First new recipe!

So Rollie's sabbatical hasn't officially begun yet, but since I bought all the groceries for the new recipes, we started on the Sabbatical Recipe Project tonight. And the first meal was... okay. Creamy rotini with salmon. It had rotini and salmon (1 lb each) , and 2 cups (!) of half and half (the recipe called for "fat free" half and half (how is that possible, by the way?) but of course I used the real deal). Peas, parmesan, salt, cayenne, nutmeg, and cornstarch were also involved. The meal was good, not great. It was good variety for our menu and had a lot of ingredients that we like, but it won't be a favorite for Rollie and I. I won't plan to make it again. The kids didn't touch it, even Lydia who loves pasta, salmon, and peas. But I had just returned from Costco where I let them eat their way through the store with the yummy snacks. Bad mama, I should have known better :) It sure made for a fun trip to Costco for all of us, and I don't let them do that very often anyway.

New recipe tomorrow night in celebration of Rollie's last day! Christine's Asian Beef Skewers are on the menu.
